What is Green Label Plus?

With the increase in demand to make indoor environments and homes as healthy and green as possible, it has become more important that you start taking steps to improve your indoor air quality. That is where Green Label Plus comes in. It’s a company that tests products like carpets, adhesives, and cushions to ensure they meet the standards for taking care of the environment.

So what is Green Label Plus, and why should you care about your indoor air quality? The article below explains how you can quickly and easily improve your home or business’s air quality by following Green Label Plus. Taking these actions will ensure that everyone in your environment experiences the best carpet and air the industry has to offer.

WHAT DOES GREEN LABEL PLUS DO?

Reducing a carpet’s chemical emissions can make a drastic difference in the air around you and change what you’re breathing in each day. What is Green Label Plus? Green Label Plus is a testing program that ensures that your carpet adhesives and cushion products are CRI Certified. We’ll further discuss what that means later in this article.

The Green Label Plus program, or GLP program, helps reduce chemical emissions by ensuring that carpets and other products meet and even exceed the standards for 35 compounds listed on the Collaborative for High-Performance Schools (CHPS), which exists under an agreement between CRI and the California Agencies. This testing includes measuring the range of chemicals in the product in an independent laboratory over 14 days.

WHAT DOES CRI CERTIFIED MEAN?

With all this information regarding the CHPS and CRI, you may be feeling a bit overwhelmed if you’ve never heard of them before. However, they are actually quite simple once you get past the names.

CRI stands for the Carpet and Rug Institute, which created Green Label to improve the health of indoor spaces. Being CRI certified is when the product is up to the standards of this company, and it can be distributed on the market without worry of the carpet causing significant damage to the environment.

WHY YOUR INDOOR AIR QUALITY MATTERS

Now that you know what Green Label Plus is, you may wonder how big a change air quality makes. The consequences of having bad indoor air quality are not only noticeable but can also be damaging to your and other people’s health. Symptoms such as fatigue, headaches, and irritation in the nose and eyes are proven to happen if someone is exposed to inhaling toxic air for too long.

This is why it’s imperative that you take care of the environment around you by providing proper ventilation and reducing the sources that emit these chemicals into the air. The first step that you can take to do this is to choose an environment-friendly carpet and rugs. Ensuring your carpets are CRI Certified with Green Label Plus is the best way to start.
