What is Green Label Plus?

With the increase in demand to make indoor environments and homes as healthy and green friendly as they can be, it has recently become more important that you start taking the steps to improve your indoor air quality. That is where Green Label Plus comes in, it’s a company that tests carpet, adhesive, and cushion products to make sure they meet the standard when it comes to taking care of the environment. So why is all of this important and why should you care about your indoor air quality? The article below explains what Green Label Plus is and how you can improve your home or business environment in a quick and easy manner ensuring that everyone experiences the best carpet and air the industry has to offer.

What Does Green Label Plus Do?

As mentioned before Green Label Plus is a testing program that makes sure that your carpet and other cushioned products are CRI Certified. Reducing the carpet’s chemical emission can make a drastic difference in the air around you and change what you’re breathing in each day. Green Label Plus does this by making sure it meets and even exceeds the 35 compounds listed on the Collaborative for HighPerformance Schools (CHPS) that exist under an agreement between CRI and the California Agencies. This testing includes measuring the range of chemicals located in the product in an independent laboratory over a 14 day period.

What Does CRI Certified Mean?

With all this information regarding the CHPS and CRI, you may be feeling a bit overwhelmed if you’ve never heard of it before. Don’t worry! It’s actually quite simple once you get past the name. In short, CRI stands for the Carpet and Rug Institute which created Green Label to improve the health of indoor spaces. Being CRI certified is when the product is up to the standards of this company and it is able to be distributed on the market without any worry of the carpet causing any damage to the environment.

Why Your Indoor Air Quality Matters

Now that you know what Green Label Plus is you may be wondering how big a change air quality actually makes. The consequences of having bad indoor air quality are not only noticeable but can also be damaging to your and other people’s health. Symptoms such as fatigue, headaches, and irritation in the nose and eyes are proven to have happened if someone is exposed to inhaling toxic air for too long. This is why it’s imperative that you take care of the environment around you by not only providing proper ventilation but by reducing the sources that emit these chemicals into the air. Because they are the base of the building that all starts with choosing environment-friendly carpet and rugs.
